Sampling the Sippy Cup
I almost cried seeing my little guy hold that cup. God, he is growing up so quickly! We are still trying to hold off on rice cereal and solids for a bit but I am slowly stocking up on what I will need to get started. Spoons, ice trays to freeze food, bowls, and books to guide me as I plan to make a lot of the food myself in the hopes of saving some money.
I have to thank all my veteran mommy friends and even the mommies that are going through this for the first time that have given me advice on "food" as we get close to entering this stage. Everything you have shared has been so helpful. I think Spencer is ready to get started but Mommy may not be :-)

Tummy Time Faces
Dr. "Duder " in the House
Anyways, such a clever gift and Spencer was such a good sport. Who knows, maybe in 20 plus years we will have a doctor in the family :-)

4 Months Old!
I can honestly say I am so happy with our pediatricians office! We had to see a different doctor in our practice today because we had changed our appointment date and our normal doctor was not available for when we rescheduled. We saw Dr. Klopman who was recommended to us by our friends and we loved her! She was very thorough made us feel very comfortable.
Spencer weighed in at 15 lbs on the dot and was 25 1/4 inches long! That puts him in the 51% for weight and 61% for height! Not too shabby!
Spencer seems to meeting all of his 4 month milestones and we could not be more proud.
He is bearing weight on legs, playing with his hands, tracking and and holding objects, laughing and smiling, rolling occasionally, and holding his head up while on his belly.
We did however have a concern about Spencer's weight. We had taken him to the doctor a little over one week ago because he had some congestion symptoms that were not going away and at that time he weighed 15lb 3 oz. Today he had dropped to 15lb. Spencer has had an enormous increase in "spit up" that we are seeing. We had taken him off his Zantac a few weeks back and now, after each bottle, he spits up a tremendous amount :-( The Doctor said the weight loss could be due to the spitting up but could also be from the congestion. We are now back on the Zantac and will go for a weight check next week to insure we are on the right track.
We did get the green light to begin solids slowly but we decided we are going to hold off until the 6 month mark or until Spencer give us more cues that he is ready for "people food." The doctor assured us that this is perfectly okay to do so we will wait it out and see.
I have to say this visit was much easier for me then the 2 month. Watching Spencer get his shots was still very unpleasant but I felt more prepared. He was a champ and after a bottle and a long nap he was good as new!
Happy 4 months little guy! We love you!
