Well, it seems we count all through our pregnancy. At first, it's all about counting "up" to that 12 week point! Then to your 20 week week mark and then, somewhere between the sleepless nights and growing bellies, and swollen ankles, we all begin to countdown!!!
As fast as this pregnancy has been for me, I feel like I have been counting down for awhile now. Today I write with so many mixed emotions. In 1 week from today, we will be headed to Northside to have our baby! As I sit at the computer and type, I can feel him move around and I am just overjoyed that he will be with us soon but terrified all the same.
I try and tell myself that we are not the first ones to go through this and certainly not the last and that we too will do great like so many of our friends and family that have children. I suppose it's just the reality setting in. The idea that life will change forever in just one short week. Only for the better of course but nonetheless changed.
In fact, as the weeks tick on, and especially in this last week, my emotions are getting the best of me. I can go from happy to sad and from frustrated to relaxed at the drop of a dime. Yesterday, I was filled with happiness for two friends that welcomed little ones into the world and the idea that next week that will be us too! Congrats to Angela ( I won't mention last names for privacy) for welcoming baby girl Addison and Laurie for welcoming little Macey!
One of the best things I have learned and quite possibly one of my favorite things about this pregnancy is all the people I have met and look forward to sharing experiences with. I hope to be able to merge different groups, meet new people, and continue to enjoy this once LBG is here! Through swim class, baby showers, religious groups and mutual friends, I have already met some wonderful women whom I am excited to spend more time with. In fact, one of my friends, has already arranged a walking group for us new mommies to start in April! Just once a week for now but such a great feeling to know we can all get out there together! And, today, I am attending my first playgroup! Yes, no baby yet, but I am meeting up with Laura Beth and baby Marin to go to a play group in Alpharetta that LB is part of. Each week their group meets at another home or location and this week it happens to be close to me so, she invited me along! I could not be more excited to be honest because it is another opportunity to meet more ladies going through what I will be going through in the next few months!
I will probably write a lot this week but what describes my feelings today is thankful. I feel very lucky to be having this baby boy and after looking back to where we were a year ago in this process, I feel even more blessed.
So we have lots of "lasts" this week that Bill and I keep repeating....
Our last doctors appointment before LBG is here was yesterday! 38 weeks and all is well! Luckily, I think my weight has finally slowed and I might have reached my final gain after a few weeks of significant jumps on the scale! Thank goodness. Baby is still breech so C-section is still a go!
Our last, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and weekend by ourselves with little furry baby Mia are all approaching! We have a date night planned for Friday! Dinner with friends on Saturday and a birthday dinner for my Dad on Sunday! Before we know it, Monday will be here! Tuesday my mom comes to town and well Wednesday, you have arrived!
I have felt "ready" for sometime but I still go over over lists in my head of what I am missing or what I need to do. Luckily, I think most of what is left are all things that need to wait to after LBG is here.
I have not posted pics in a few weeks. I will take a pic this week for sure and then one next Wednesday to finish off the progression:-) Just think, after that, this blog will be filled with pics of our little boy!
Since today, my first feeling that came to mind is thankful, I wanted to thank all my friends and family for supporting me through this journey ( hopefully, I won't be an emotional basket case the rest of this week for you all) A special thanks to Bill! I could not have made it through without you. Thank you for being a trooper and taking such good care of me. I cannot wait to see you with our little boy!
This is my final countdown to meeting my first baby! What an experience! Thanks for sharing the ride.

Maternity Photo Session and More!
Well, here we are, just about 37 weeks. We are exactly two weeks away from welcoming our baby into this world! I am so excited. How many times have I said that in the past 9 months? It's about 4:00 am right now and I of course am not sleeping. Par for the course these days :-) Just think, this time in 2 weeks, we will be getting up and heading to the hospital for our 7:45 am arrival and check in!
Normally, I would be super frustrated with the fact that I was up at this hour, BUT I happened to go to look at one of my favorite blogs by Alea Moore Photography and saw that some of our maternity pics were up!!! I will post the blog link below so you all can take a look!! So, anyone who knows me, knows I am overly critically about ANY and EVERY photo of myself so like I said in my previous posts, I wanted to capture this time in our lives and from what I have seen from just a snapshot on the blog, I think Kim, our friend and photographer for our shoot did an awesome job! I cannot wait to see them all!!! Thanks Kim and Alea Moore Photography!
http://www.aleamooreblog.com/
So, just odds and ends to do now......I mean to be honest, if the baby came today, we would be plenty ready but it never hurts to keep chugging away to get things done. This is my first week of "maternity leave" and I have truly been taking it nice and easy. My body needed this time and I am glad my doctor decided my body did too :-)
We had an ultrasound at the perinatal specialist yesterday! Everything is fine but at our 36 week appointment and ultrasound the ultrasound tech was having trouble seeing LBG's left kidney and the doctor needed to make sure all was okay and that we had no surprises! All is good! LBG is happy and healthy and guess what?!?! He is still BREECH! Go figure! Little stinker :-) He is weighing in at a healthy and on target 6.5 lbs!
So all stays as planned, C-section here we come! If anything, our families are most excited because this helps them plan for trips to GA for the birth and Bris 8 days later. No more spur of the moment plan tickets. Instead, tickets have been purchased, rental car reservations made and hotels booked!
Most of you know this, but Bill and I are Jewish and it is customary to have a Bris (Brit Milah) on the 8th day of life.
http://judaism.about.com/od/lifeevents/a/britmilah.htm
Never the most pleasant experience for Mom, or Dad for that matter, but very special ceremony for our little boy.
So, what does this mean? More planning! Luckily I have great friends and family that will be baking and we are catering the rest to keep us stress free! Again, another benefit of "knowing" when the baby is coming. Takes the guess work out of planning which I like of course :-)
Like I said, still enough to do to keep my mind racing but nothing that is urgent at this point.
I think it is time for me to try and hit the hay again for a few hours! Night! Or should I say Good Morning :-) ????

36 Weeks!
So today we are officially 36 weeks! Yay! Talk about time flying!
Many of you may have seen my facebook post but here is the update.....
LBG did not turn :-( He is still breech! Mommy (and Daddy) are not happy but understand that he is just a little too comfortable and does not feel like moving. It's not to say that he wont turn at the last minute but it is getting very tight in there and we have been told it is unlikely.
SO,
We were given two options.....
Option 1: The doctor could TRY and turn the baby. This is done during your 37th week. So, for us, next week and it's done in the hospital. You are hooked up to IV's and monitors to watch the baby's heartbeat. The procedure takes about 15 minutes but only has a 60% success rate! Four things could happen.
1. We decide to have the procedure done, but he cannot turn the baby and we need to schedule a C-section.
2. The procedure works, he turns the baby, we go home and wait for labor to begin when it's "time" and then deliver the baby. Obviously, best case scenario!
3. The procedure works, he turns the baby, we go home and wait for labor to begin when it's "time" but I cannot deliver the baby naturally and we have to have a C-section.
4. The procedure works, he turns the baby, the baby gets stressed in the new position and his HR goes down and we have to have a emergency C-section on the spot! Not ideal, especially at only 37 weeks!
As you can see, most of these options could result in a possible C-section. There is no guarantee.
I have been told the procedure itself is very uncomfortable to both mom and baby so another con in our eyes.
Option 2: was to plain and simple, schedule a C-section. If the baby happens to turn in the meantime, we would re-evaluate then.
Bill and I made the decision to have a C-section scheduled. We decided that we did not want to take the chance of causing the baby any stress. He has been breech the entire pregnancy, has been healthy, and grown like he should and we just felt like moving him now may cause complications and disrupt his thriving environment. At 37 weeks, if we had to deliver in a emergency because of complications with turning him he would be fine but there is a chance his lungs still may not be fully developed and may need time in the NICU. Again, not a chance I am willing to take at this point.
Although, made this decision pretty quickly, it was a hard one for us both. We both really wanted to embrace the spontaneity of the naturally birthing process. I must say I am disappointed that I won't have the option to try natural childbirth but I more concerned with the health of the baby.
Besides, C-sections are so common these days and so many women have them, right?
Long story short, LBG will be here on March 3rd, 2010!!! That is, unless he comes early or he turns himself and we wait for natural labor to begin.
It's so strange to think we have a definitive date now! He is currently weighing in right at 6lbs! Right on schedule. So, assuming he stays on track, he will be somewhere between 7.5 and 8 lbs at birth! he is moving like crazy these days and we think it is because he is trying to turn but can't :-( He is a procrastinator like his daddy and waited too long!
More news! Tomorrow is officially my last day of work before I go on maternity leave. My swelling and back pain have made it near impossible to keep up at work and the doctor has made the decision that this week is it! Thank goodness. I really have been struggling the past few weeks and really need some R&R before this baby gets here! I have not taken my 36 week picture yet but will post one very soon!
So, it's the home stretch, 20 more days! I can do it!

LBG
Okay so I can promise you, we DO NOT have a name yet for Baby Gordon. I am not just trying to keep it a secret, I swear! We really don't know and probably wont until we hold him for the first time. So, in the meantime, I have given him his temporary initials, LBG. AKA Little Baby Gordon or, if you like, Little Boy Gordon.
Tomorrow is our 36 week appointment. I am so excited. Not only will we find out if the baby has turned from the breech position, but we will get an approximate size on him too!!
I have returned to nesting mode and got much done on Monday evening. I washed more blankets and socks and set up LBG's activity gym for "tummy" time. We also set up our baby monitor and have that charging and ready to go. Video camera discs have been stocked in the camera bag and packed in my hospital bag ready to go.
Tonight, I have to make room in the kitchen for a "baby" cabinet. I want to store all the bottles, bowls, snack traps, and spoons that we have in one place for easy access.
I have started to stock my diaper bag with essentials and need to work on Bill's bag too! I found this awesome "mommy" emergency kit at the Hallmark near my house. It's literally the size of your palm if you can believe it! I know I will rarely carry a purse come March so it is perfect to slip right in your diaper bag and it has just about anything you might need in a bind. You can get it online too. If you click on the contents tab, it will show you everything that is in it.

I just ordered the hamper for the nursery today and I still need to find a small table for next to my glider and possibly a standing lamp for more light.
The more I do, the more excited I get! Now, if only I could find a way to get some energy back :-)

Superbowl Fun at the Gordons!
It's one of Bill's favorite weekends of the year so we could not miss a chance to enjoy the Superbowl! Not to mention it always falls near his Birthday so more reason to celebrate :=)
It's been tradition since we have been together to host a gathering for the Superbowl so we wanted to keep with tradition. Learning from years past, we started planning early this year because Bill was determined to have a great gathering! We thought it was great, hope everyone else did too!
Most thought I was crazy for entertaining this far along in pregnancy. I could not agree with them more, but we pulled it off. I did need a day to recover though :-)
Just think, next year, our little guy will be celebrating with us!
Thanks to all our friends for joining us! Consider this an invite for next year!
Here are some pics from our Superbowl "Party"

35 Weeks! Really?
I know I say this each time I post but where is the time going? We are 35 weeks today! Yay! I cannot believe that within 5 short weeks our little guy will be here.
I have to say this week has been a tough one. I would say more physically, then mentally but nonetheless, tough. I cannot really pinpoint one particular reason but a combination of things. In taking a brief second to vent I must say I am tired, my body hurts, and I am ready for this last month or so to fly by. I am hoping Baby Gordon has no intentions of staying on board past 40 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I know he will come when he is ready and I want him to be healthy by all means but I am just so uncomfortable.
I find it interesting to hear how everyone I know has handled their last month of pregnancy and to hear how those who are going through it now with me are doing. From what I seen/heard, every experience is somewhat different but again never the most pleasant time of the pregnancy. Bottom line is that we all do it and make it through and it is just time to start trying to focus on the end result more then ever!
So, enough complaining.....What has been happening this week?????
My crazy nesting phase that lasted weeks is finally on the down slope this week. I still have odds and ends to get done but I think, we are almost done! That is until baby gets here. Then, I am sure we will never be done ;-) For now, I am taking a little break.
I went to my friend Krissy's baby shower on Sunday. She is due 8 days after me with a little boy too! It was a wonderful shower and like my shower there were several of expecting mommies there! It's always fun to meet and chat with ladies who are going through the same thing as you are.
We had our maternity photos taken yesterday! I am so excited to see how they turn out but it will be a few weeks before we actually see the finished product. I will of course share them as soon as we get them! I have to admit, I have not really felt that "glow" that everyone talks about through pregnancy and have not really felt great in general about my appearance BUT I really wanted to capture this moment in our lives. I will be happy if we get a few "keepers".
I am looking forward to a fun-filled weekend! Bill's birthday is tomorrow! Happy Early Birthday to my wonderful husband! We are planning to go on a birthday date on Saturday night to celebrate although the birthday boy has not decided where he wants to go yet......
We are continuing the fun on Sunday with friends for the Superbowl. Each year we try and do something fun for the Superbowl and we are continuing tradition this year by having some friends over for the big game!
Before I know it we will be back at the doctors office for our 36 week appointment and ultrasound! I am anxiously awaiting this visit to see how are baby is cooking :-)
Have a great weekend everyone!
